only in dreams

Newt was beginning to love the library. He hated to admit it, but it was becoming his refuge. Maybe he was smarter than he thought he was. At least Simon cheered him on.

"Actually, you're quite good at this. You got it down." At least, Simon didn't say finally and Newt was beginning to appreciate Simon too. He wasn't just a Brain, he was definitely a brain with a lot of feelings. Especially, about being gay. He'd been quite tedious to listen to over the weeks, but now that things were really tight with Simon and Josh, he'd started to be a bit more at ease and planning his future at Oxford. As usual, Simon was always planning something. Newt couldn't see himself doing anything over the horizon.

"Something's troubling me," he said one day to Simon as they were clearing up the books. "I have this reoccurring dream." It had bothered him ever since his dream about Lauren telling him to kiss a boy..it would make him feel better. "I don't even know why I exactly have it, either." He wasn't going to tell Simon about his Lauren dream. It was some other dream.

"What might that be?" Simon seriously looked at him, and it frightened Newt a bit to confess it and the thought that Simon might help him. "I want to know what you think..." Newt looked around hoping no one he knew was near to overhear. "I keep dreaming of kissing Jamie Campbell Bowar, you know the dude from Sweeny Tood." He nodded. "But first its Kiera Knightly, and then its Sarah, but it all changes...its him. Everytime." He sighed. "Do you think I'm gay?"

"What a laugh you are, mate." Simon gave him a gentle shove. Newt looked at him with a silly cringe. "Whats your take on that sort of dream, Josh?"

"Sounds like a bloke with quite an imagination." Josh smiled at Newt.

Newt pulled a face.

"What, you want us to both kiss you?" Josh joked .

Newt rolled his eyes and left Simon and Josh laughing in the stacks. He'd had enough. It was time for him to go. Of course, he had no place to go but home.

As he was making his way out of the library, he saw Cecil coming up the steps handing out flyers. It was about the band Lauren was in. They were going to play a concert in the park soon.

"You should definitely be there." He handed a flyer to Newt, who gave Cecil a cold look.

He stared at the neon green flyer. It meant nothing to him. Nothing. He let go of it and watched it toss in the wind.
